FINANCIAL PLANNING SERVICES
Major changes to pension legislation came into effect on 6 April 2006 and the new rules now affect everybody. It is always sensible to review your pension arrangements periodically and the changes to the rules provide a good reason to make this a priority.

As you may also be aware, major changes to the Inheritance Tax (IHT) legislation were introduced in the Finance Bill and were subsequently confirmed in the Finance Act 2006. If your estate is likely to exceed the nil rate band which is £312,000 for 2008/9 then please contact one of our Independent Financial Advisers, either Colette Cook DipPFS, CFP or Nanette Strover CertPFS, MIFP for a review.

TAX
Please click here for the current Budget Summary 2008/2009 and Tax Rates 2008/2009. A number of changes to legislation have been introduced in the 2008 Finance Act which may have a direct impact on you. Some of these changes are summarised in the Hot Topics newsletter sent to clients periodically.

If you are a client and have not already sent us your tax papers for 2008, you should let us have them now. We are keen to prepare returns now, to be able to advise you of tax liabilities in good time and to provide scope for tax mitigation advice where appropriate. We file most returns on-line as this gives us immediate confirmation of receipt by HM Revenue & Customs and speeds up the establishment of tax liabilities (and repayments where appropriate).

Levels, bases of and reliefs from taxation may be subject to change.
